![]() They do have a shiny new design on the front-the notch is gone in favor of the newly named Dynamic Island. When you get down to brass tacks, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max ( 7/10, WIRED Recommends) aren't markedly different from their predecessors. ![]() A big reason why is weight-it's 3 grams lighter than the smaller 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro. Considering the bigger size, I expected the Plus to be unwieldy like the iPhone 14 Pro Max, but it's surprisingly manageable. That's really my only major complaint, besides the fact that its price is a little too close to the iPhone 14 Pro. The 6.7-inch screen is wonderfully vast, but it's a shame Apple didn't add a 120-Hz refresh rate for smoother interactions. If you're frequently turning on Low Power Mode, this is the iPhone to buy. It even bested the iPhone 14 Pro Max in my testing. I routinely had to charge the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro at the end of a busy day, but the iPhone 14 Plus often had enough juice to last until the afternoon of the second day off the charger. It's identical to the iPhone 14 in every way except for size and battery life. Instead, Apple replaced it with the iPhone 14 Plus. One major change in the iPhone 14 lineup? There's no new iPhone Mini. Both will help you reach emergency services if you're in an area with no service or if you're unresponsive after a car crash. Two new passive features you'll appreciate are Emergency SOS via Satellite and Crash Detection. A new Action video mode lets you capture super-stabilized videos. There are some nice new perks, like how Cinematic mode (Portrait mode but for video) now films in 4K instead of just 1080p. Many of the improvements are in the cameras, which have larger sensors and are powered by a new image-processing pipeline called the Photonic Engine that Apple says produces brighter and sharper photos, but we haven't noticed much of a difference from the iPhone 13. I've found the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 is perfectly manageable in one hand, and it roughly lasts a full day with medium to heavy use. It has the old notch design, with all the basics you'd want, from MagSafe and wireless charging to IP68 water resistance. ![]() It has a similar processor-the A15 Bionic with one additional graphics core, so gaming performance is (almost imperceptibly) better. The iPhone 14 ( 7/10, WIRED Recommends) is an awful lot like the iPhone 13 that came before, which isn't a bad thing. Note: Apple hasn't been including a charging adapter (nor earbuds) in the box since the iPhone 12, just a USB-C-to-Lightning cable, so you might need to buy a 20-watt adapter like this one. The single-lens rear camera takes pretty great daytime shots, but there's no night mode, and low-light images are lackluster compared to phones like the Google Pixel 6A. ![]() It gets sub-6 5G connectivity, meaning it won't be able to hit the super-fast internet speeds available on pricier iPhones, but this isn't a big deal as you rarely run into that type of 5G. That chip also brings better battery life, but the SE will last you roughly a day of use-less if you're a heavy user. It has the same A15 Bionic processor as the iPhone 13 models, making this budget phone a powerhouse among its peers and capable of running the most demanding games. Internally, the 2022 SE is a whole lot more powerful than the previous generation. This is also the only iPhone in the lineup without ultra-wideband support, which improves AirDrop and lets you precisely find nearby AirTags. There's no MagSafe accessory system, and the headphone jack is nonexistent, but at least you still get plain ol' wireless charging. (We've rounded up our favorite cases and accessories here.) That means you still get a cramped yet compact 4.7-inch LCD screen with a physical home button, thick bezels around the screen, and Touch ID. Externally, there are none-even cases for the 2020 iPhone SE will fit this version. Apple refreshed its most affordable iPhone for a third generation ( 7/10, WIRED Recommends) in 2022, though you'll be hard-pressed to spot the differences. ![]() ![]() ![]() Garrison Brothers Distillery, Hye, Texas (Credit: ) But perhaps the greatest influence on the unique flavor of Garrison Brothers’ Bourbons is the hot climate of Hye in which the whiskeys mature. One such producer is Garrison Brothers, a fast-growing distillery based in Hye, Texas. And thanks to a booming craft spirits market, we’re seeing an influx of Bourbon producers from all over the country who are bringing new flavors and new styles to this once very traditional, Kentuckian spirit. The reality is that Bourbon can be made anywhere in the United States. In fact, some of the best Bourbon on the market today is coming from outside the Bluegrass State. The more likely story attributes the rhyme to the 17th-century king of England, Charles I. The only problem is that those events occurred nearly 30 years after “Jack and Jill” was first written. One of the most common theories surrounding the story’s origin is that it’s about France’s Louis XVI and his wife, Marie Antoinette, who were both found guilty of treason and subsequently beheaded. They are much the same as the lines which school-children address to the cranefly (‘Daddy-long-legs’), sometimes pulling off its legs as they repeat, Old Father Long-Legs / Can’t say his prayers / Take him by the left leg, / And throw him downstairs.” 3. “here I met an old man, who wouldn't say his prayers, so I took him by his left leg and threw him down the stairs.” Ouch!Īccording to noted English folklorists Iona and Peter Opie, “It is very probable that they had a separate origin. It’s hard to imagine that any rhyme with the phrase goosey goosey in its title could be described as anything but feel-good. This nursery rhyme isn't really about a goose. In 2011, news outlets reported on the proliferation of “Baa, Baa, Rainbow Sheep” as an alternative. Its political correctness was called into question yet again in the latter part of the 20th century, with some schools banning it from being repeated in classrooms, and others simply switching out the word black for something deemed less offensive. Though most scholars agree that “Baa, Baa, Black Sheep” is about the Great Custom, a tax on wool that was introduced in 1275, its use of the color black and the word master led some to wonder whether there was a racial message at its center. It would have been understandably tempting for country star Tim McGraw to make a video that interpreted his ballad “Humble and Kind” as literally as songwriter Lori McKenna intended: as a message to her children. But the truly on-point illustration in the “Hello” video is the wind storm that sweeps through the clip’s outdoor setting near the end, an accurate representation of Adele’s immediate impact upon her long-awaited return to the music industry. The sepia-toned video for Adele’s 2015 comeback single was an appropriate visual reflection of her melancholy, lightly nostalgic power ballad - instantly striking enough to inspire an SNL parody just a month after its debut. Guided by a vintage-like broadcast setup that gives the clip a childhood-esque allure, Chance’s muted enthusiasm toward shoulder leans and his ultimate abandonment of the alternate reality set aptly illustrates the separation between once-in-lockstep pals. The Chicago musician, fitted in a pink shade of his signature “3” hat, is couched behind a grand piano for the majority of the video alongside a wide-eyed, Muppet-like creature. The video accompaniment for Chance the Rapper’s Peter Pan-metaphorical ballad “Same Drugs” is as fantastical as the song itself - cotton candy hues, life-sized puppets and spontaneous snowfall add visual vibrancy to an already-colorful lyric. The music video might never achieve its golden-age omnipresence again, but when done right, it could still be just as impactful. It was also just a few weeks after Justin Bieber, a rising sensation who became a teen idol on YouTube before ever having a song on the radio, had released the much simpler but equally starmaking bowling alley love story clip for “Baby” - which would cement his ascent to the A-list and quickly become the most viewed video in the platform’s history. That was the month that “Telephone” - the team-up between the artists who were then the two greatest icons of contemporary music video, Lady Gaga and Beyoncé - dropped as a headline-grabbing, attention-captivating ten-minute mini-movie, enrapturing pop fans around the globe and driving millions and millions of views. ![]() While the music video suffered an unfortunate slide in relevance over the late ’00s, as MTV and VH1 gradually cut videos from their programming and YouTube was still finding its footing as an international platform, it was pretty clear as of March 2010 that the artform would survive and thrive into the next decade. ![]() 8/18/2023 0 Comments Endurance catheter vs midline![]() ![]() Additionally, the preference for high-cost, premium-priced versions of products, such as those with antimicrobial coatings, is still developing in many markets. With brilliantly designed mirrorless systems released by Sony, Canon, Nikon, and Panasonic, both aspiring and professional photographers can enjoy creative DSLR-like features in a more compact and lightweight body. Exceptional Optics to Match Innovative Cameras With interchangeable lenses, functionality for both photography and videography, and plenty of accessories to choose from, mirrorless cameras are the leading option for many content creators. Also, don't forget, your 45mm 1.Mirrorless cameras have rapidly replaced DSLRs to become some of the most popular digital cameras on the market. Can aspect ratio switching be bound to the lens Fn button? I've not been using that button much either cause I couldn't settle on a function I'd use across several of my wide primes (my other primes often lack said button), but this would be perfect if possible.Įxactly, 35mm in 4:3 is the same, give or take 0,5mm as your 40mm 1.7, just remember even in 4:3 ratio it's 1.125x the focal length and the aperture, so its really a 40mm 1.6 in 4 3 AR. I've not used the different AR options much outside of as occasional guides but I'm really gonna have to keep it in mind with my 24/2.8 G, or heck even with my 35GM (gets me to that elusive ~40mm I'm rather used to from years with the Pana 20/1.7). Would be nice for Sony to add the 5:4 too. The other option is the 5:4 ratio which provides a 1.2x horizontal crop in the view finder, but all these crops have the safety in raw of the full file should you want to go back to it. ![]() In fact switching to 4:3 actually makes sense for the use cases where I'd prefer 28mm, which generally involve shooting people and possibly framing vertically.Įxactly, 4:3 ratio for portrait view is very appealing, I really hate not having 4:3 ratio on any camera, it was one of the reasons I couldn't get a long with early a7/a6x series, a6x series still don't have 4:3 ratio and 4:3 ratio has only appeared on Sony since a7r4. Plenty of res to crop on my A7R IV tho, I actually wish I had a 1.25x (and/or 2x) crop mode too. I really wanted a small 28mm myself to complement my SY 45/1.8, I just think it's slightly more flattering, but ended up with a 24mm because I didn't think a great 28mm would be coming at any point. Huh, had never thought about it like that tbh. If there's a really good 25mm lens out there, would be 100% a 28mm lens this way and if you want a landscape fov, switch back to 3:2/16:9 and you then have your 24/25mm back in the viewfinder too. With 7000 pixels you can lose 1.125x in the field of view without any issue, sure its 4:3 ratio but its one click in post to choose 3:2 ratio and crop it back to 3:2 shape if you want and you also now have the safety of some extra space in raw around the image too if you did cut something off! Just use 4:3 ratio permanently and the horizontal field of view is 100% now 24mm*1.125 ie 27mm, so a tiny bit less than 28mm but close enough and you still have 29mp in 4:3 or if you do correct to 3:2 26.5mp, its enough!īuy the best 24mm you can/want and use 4:3 ratio on any 3:2 sensor, you have 27mm (close enough some are closer to 27mm anyway). Look, 4:3 ratio is a 1.125x crop, its absolutely tiny, if you are/were a m43 user long-term like me, I love 4:3 ratio and especially 28mm 4:3 because you actually get more from a 28mm on m43 than you do from a 28mm on any 3:2 ratio sensors! You say you have a stellar 24 1.8, use it as a 28mm lens, its easy with the A7IV, you lose nothing with this approach, try and see? Tango, Sony is your friend, its already provided you with a 28mm equivalent lens, you and others just aren't understanding the reason! Of course, I would also be happy with a great Sony or Tamron, so I hope one of these manufacturers sees the opportunity. My copy of the 24/1.8 Samyang is outstanding (yes it is!), so I imagine they could make a 28 of the same optical quality.Īnd what about Sigma? Would LOVE one with their build quality, relatively small, and with great optics. I don't care who makes it (Sony, Sigma, Samyang, Tamron), as long as it's optically excellent. I think a good number of you will agree: what this system needs is a great 28/2 or even 28/2.5, with GM quality and an aperture ring. ![]() |
